A congregation willing to welcome you where you are on your spiritual journey. We want to get to know you. Our church is not so large that it takes years to form meaningful relationships (or even to be noticed). We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came into the world to save the world. Maybe you’re not sure about that. That’s OK. It is our hope that you will come to see the life-giving power of God, but it’s fine to come while seeking. Jesus told his first followers to go out into all the world and share the good news of God’s Kingdom. We believe it’s good news and we would love the chance to share it with you.
In the Episcopal Church, worship is not a spectator sport. As in most
churches, everyone is welcome to take part in the prayers and hymns, but we
often do more. We believe that God created the whole person and we hope that
both your body and your mind will be inspired. However, there is nothing to
be afraid of: the whole service is presented in a bulletin, hymnal and our
Book of Common Prayer. You can follow right along, and people will think
you’ve been an Episcopalian forever. All of our regular Sunday services are
Holy Eucharist (Communion) and any person who has been baptized is welcome
to receive Communion, or not, as the Holy Spirit moves you.
8:00 AM: A quiet, meditative service.
10:30 AM: We celebrate with music and both an adult and a children’s sermon.
Christian Education:Sunday School for children and youth during the
10:30 service, Adult Bible Study from 9-10 AM each Sunday, an every other
week teen class, and an all age Vacation Bible School is part of our regular
program each summer. We also have a 4-week Lenten Series in late winter and
a 10-week adult evening study in the fall. Give us a call for more
information about specific programs.
Nursery: is provided for babies and toddlers during the 10:30 service.
We are part of the Anglican Communion, a collection of 38 National or regional churches who trace themselves back to Jesus Christ through the Church of England. The American branch is the Episcopal Church which strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts, and all are welcome. Walking a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, we are a sacramental and worship oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ.
Episcopalians, like all Christians believe the Bible contains everything necessary for salvation. The Church, as a worshiping body of faithful people, has for two thousand years amassed experience of God and of loving Jesus, and what they have said to us through the centuries about the Bible is critical to our understanding it in our own context. The Traditions of the Church in interpreting Scripture connect all generations of believers together and give us a starting point for our own understanding. Episcopalians believe that every Christian must build an understanding and relationship with God’s Word in the Bible, and to do that, God has given us intelligence and our own experience, which we refer to as “Reason.” Based on the text of the Bible itself, and what Christians have taught us about it through the ages, we then must sort out our own understanding of it as it relates to our own lives.
